You and I and why we’re a team

A large majority of the population in the UK are eating far too many highly processed, inflammatory foods and living a sedentary lifestyle whilst suffering with chronic sleep issues and far too much stress. As a result, we become disconnected from ourselves which results with us not being able to to function optimally.

The current ‘medical model’ is not well equipped for dealing with today’s medical conditions.

  • Conventional medicine is fantastic at dealing with acute and traumatic medical emergencies such as infection, fever, wounds and broken limbs. However, it’s focus on ‘cure’ rather than ‘prevention’ is wholly inadequate for the slow, persistent burden of chronic illness.
  • The current level of care is just not effective.  A ten minute appointment with a GP is not sufficient time to put workable and lasting lifestyle changes in place in order to support long-term health. Effective prevention (and where necessary, reversal) of chronic disease needs an entirely different approach to the current healthcare set up.
  • Left unrestrained, the incidence of chronic disease will continue to surge—and will ultimately destroy our quality of life.
  • The solution to this apparent healthcare ‘crisis’ isn’t just financial – nor a case of recruiting more doctors and nurses. The system needs an essential (and currently overlooked) layer of support which can assist patients to make lifelong changes to their lifestyle and diet as well as providing them with moral and emotional support and helping them to cope with stress.

Health coaching is not about being a “health expert.”

Advice is just another word for information – and information alone cannot bring about change.  Anyone can give advice. But not everyone can help another tap his or her own potential for change. My job as a coach isn’t to be your “expert” on health, but instead, “your catalyst for change”.

As a health coach, I’m not practicing medicine – and never claim to be. What I’m doing is using my own stash of resources, paired with my communication skills to help you:

  • Discover your own personal motivations and strategies for change.
  • Align your actions with your core values.
  • Create achievable and measurable goals.
