Testing offered

My programme starts by investigating all the different possible triggers and drivers towards your symptoms including:

Blood sugar imbalances

Nutrient deficiencies

Hidden food sensitivities

Personal stressors and trauma related stressors

Pathogens including parasites, bacteria, yeast, fungus and viruses

Dysbiosis including SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth)

Hormone imbalances

Mineral imbalances

Heavy metal toxicity

Toxic exposure

I have accounts with the best UK and Europe based functional testing Labs and can arrange either blood, genetic, saliva, urine or stool testing. Once I have assessed you during our initial consultation we will have more of an idea if further investigation is required. Testing offers valuable insights into your unique biochemistry and is science and evidence-based, ensuring interventions and effective plans are created to address the underlying issues rather than treating symptoms.

Below are some of the tests I offer:

Organic acid testing (urine) including vitamin pathways, microbial overgrowths & mitochondrial function

Comprehensive blood testing including iron panels, cholesterol, thyroid, minerals & vitamins

Hair Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA)

Comprehensive stool analysis including diversity, parasitology & digestive enzymes etc

DUTCH hormone testing

Genetic panels for single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs)

Mould and Mycotoxin Analysis

Blood Testing

A comprehensive blood chemistry panel is the single most efficient and effective tool for evaluating your health, it screens for a wide range of conditions including several types of anaemia, indications of gut, viral and bacterial infections, insulin resistance and hypoglycaemia, liver and kidney issues, and thyroid and adrenal function. Having all these markers run collectively allows me to identify underlying issues within certain systems that need support.

Organic Acid Testing

This test is great for an overall system check. Blood work really compliments it too.

Organic acids are metabolic byproducts of cellular metabolism which can be measured through a urine sample. This is the functional medicine equivalent to a doctor’s advanced blood test giving a comprehensive insight into how your body is really functioning. The organic acids present in the urine are often at one hundred times their concentration in the blood serum and therefore are more readily detected in urine.

The test will look at the bio markers for the following profiles:

  • Methylation
  • Toxins & detoxification
  • Energy production
  • Blood sugar stabilisation
  • Oxidative stress / antioxidants
  • Vitamin & mineral levels
  • Neurotransmitter turnover
  • Intestinal bacterial overgrowth
  • Metabolic function

Fed up with going round and round in circles with conventional medicine? If you need a deeper insight into your health, this will give scientific clues into the underlying issues that need addressing.

HTMA Testing

An HTMA is a hair sample cut from as close to the scalp as possible and gives us an insight into certain nutrient levels inside the cell where as blood testing is more of an insight of outside of the cell. An HTMA concentrates on minerals but also measures levels of heavy metals. Minerals often described as spark plugs are involved in every enzyme reaction and work in synergy. Healing in multifactorial but an HTMA is a great place to start alongside addressing nutrition, lifestyle, gut health and stress management.

So many factors affect why you may be mineral deficient including chronic stress, medication use, poor gut health, excessive sweating or restricted/poor diets.

The benefits of balancing minerals result in many things including decreased liver and kidney stress, decreased inflammation, improved metabolism and nutrient deficiencies.

Hormone Testing

DUTCH testing (Dried Urine for Comprehensive Hormones)

The DUTCH Complete test an easy to-do at home urine test taken over 24hrs evaluates 35 sex and adrenal hormones, including oestrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA, and cortisol, with metabolites. It also measures daily free cortisol and cortisone patterns, 8-OHdG, melatonin, and nine organic acids, including markers for B12, B6, biotin, glutathione, dopamine, norepinephrine/epinephrine, neuroinflammation, and tryptophan putrefaction, offering insights into hormonal and metabolic health.

Who should take this test?

This is ideal for any female who is not currently on contraception. Contraception must be stopped for three months prior to running a DUTCH test.

Clients taking this test who do not currently have a regular cycle need to follow precise instructions regarding when to test. This information can be discussed with myself or with the lab directly.

When should you consider this test?

Consider DUTCH Complete to identify the root causes of sex hormone and adrenal imbalances. It provides insights into conditions like PMS, PMDD, PCOS, menopause, weight gain, fatigue, low libido, sleep issues and mood disorders, hormonal bloating, anxiety, acne, heavy or painful periods, endometriosis, headaches and migraines.

Dutch Cycle Mapping

DUTCH Cycle Mapping™ with Complete provides a comprehensive view of a woman’s menstrual cycle, assessing progesterone and oestrogen patterns alongside 35 sex and adrenal hormones, including metabolites. It tracks daily free cortisol and cortisone, oxidative stress marker 8-OHdG, melatonin, and nine organic acids. This aids in addressing month-specific symptoms, infertility, and hormone imbalances.

Who should take this test?

This is ideal for anyone from puberty to menopause who is not using an oral contraceptive pill. This test can be taken if you are using a Mirena coil. Not for anyone post-menopausal or using HRT. This test can still be used if cycles are irregular or absent.

When should you consider this test?

Consider DUTCH Cycle Mapping with Complete for detailed hormone assessment in scenarios such as infertility, irregular cycles, PCOS, and fluctuating hormonal symptoms (PMS, spotting, migraines).

It also provides insight into symptoms such as weight gain, fatigue, low libido, sleep issues and mood disorders, hormonal bloating, anxiety, acne, heavy or painful periods and endometriosis.

Thyroid Testing

This blood test measures T4 (thyroxine), T3 (triiodothyronine), thyroid antibodies (to identify potential autoimmunity), TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) levels, along with vitamin B12, B9, vitamin D, ferritin (stored iron levels), CRP (measuring inflammation).

The thyroid gland, a butterfly-shaped gland that sits in the base of your neck, produces hormones that regulate metabolism, growth, and development and impacts various bodily functions like heart rate, body temperature and energy levels.

A poorly functioning thyroid will often result in symptoms such as low mood, irregular periods, thinning hair or eyelashes, dry skin, weight gain, dry skin, muscle aches or brain fog.

Sibo Testing

SIBO breath testing is a diagnostic tool used to detect Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), a condition where too many bacteria are present in the small intestine. Normally, most bacteria are found in the large intestine, but when they overgrow in the small intestine, it can cause digestive issues like bloating, gas, diarrhoea, or constipation.

GI Map Testing

A stool sample is analysed for the presence and abundance of various microorganisms, including bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. It uses quantitative Polymerase Chia Reaction (qPCR) technology to detect the DNA of specific organisms and measure their levels. 70% of the immune system is within the gut so this gives us a deeper insight of gut inflammation, immune function, digestion are antibiotic resistance to see how inflammation is contributing to gut health.

Mould and Mycotoxin Testing

Mould and mycotoxin testing are used to determine if you have been exposed to harmful moulds and the toxins they produce, known as mycotoxins. The test is a simple urine sample.

Exposure to mould and mycotoxins can lead to a variety of health issues, particularly if you have been in an environment with significant mould growth, such as a water-damaged building. Early detection aids in mitigating risks associated with neurological conditions, respiratory issues, chronic fatigue, and various systemic symptoms.

Vaginal Health Testing

Vaginal health testing involves a swab of inside the vagina and evaluates the overall health of the vagina, including the balance of bacteria, the presence of infections, and other potential issues that could affect vaginal health. This testing is important for diagnosing and managing conditions that can cause symptoms like itching, discharge, odour, pain, or discomfort. This test is performed by swabbing the inside of the vagina.

Life Code GX Genetic Testing

Nutrigenomics (also known as nutritional genomics) is broadly defined as the relationship between nutrients, diet, and gene expression.

Lifecode Gx® are the leading experts in nutrigenomics testing and education, applying the latest genomics science to enable a preventative, proactive and personalised approach to health.

Nutrigenomic testing enables us to look in detail at our DNA, so we can understand our unique personal health ‘blueprint’. Small but important differences in our genetic make-up (‘SNPs’) can have significant impacts on our health and help us to make informed decisions about

  • Health
  • Nutrition
  • Fitness
  • Habits

Your DNA will never change so these tests only need to be taken once using a simple swab test taken from inside the mouth. You then have the information for life.

The following reports are available depending on your symptoms or goals. I would recommend you book a discovery call with me to discuss which reports would suit you best.

  • Nutrient Core
  • Methylation
  • Hormones
  • Detoxification
  • Nervous System
  • Thyroid Balance
  • Metabolics
  • Histamine Intolerance
